The Post Office was designed 1979 by Twist Whitley Architects to look like a pigeon loft which was the way messages were send in ancient times. Structural engineering by Bingham Blades. Contractor was Patel Engineering of Bombay.
Directorate General of Qatar with public hall and lobby, containing all postal services and around 25,000 mail boxes, 600 car park for and a postal vehicle workshop.
Fully mechanised General Postal Office constructed as modern pre-fab concrete building.
