Googie Style :: Los Angeles architecture photo gallery
The origin of the name Googie
goes back to 1949, when architect
John Lautner designed a coffee shop
by the name of Googie's on the
corner of Sunset Boulevard and
Crescent Heights in Los Angeles.
The elements of Googie are
upswept roofs, large concrete domes,
exposed steel beams, starburst,
amoebae and boomerang shapes.
Googie went out of fashion in
the mid Sixties.

You-are-here.com also presents
photos of other modern buildinGs
in the greater Los Angeles area
and downtown.
